Payment Confirmations Can't Be Written Back to RealPage or Entrata

Last updated: September 11, 2026

Summary

For both RealPage and Entrata, Propexo can read charge and payment history, but cannot write payment confirmations back into either system (charges are supported). This is a limitation of the vendors' public APIs, not a gap in Propexo's integration - neither vendor offers a publicly supported way for third parties to post a "this was paid" confirmation into their ledger.

Charges - rent, fees, and other line items posted to a resident's ledger — can be written to both systems normally. The one thing that isn't possible is confirming a payment back into the PMS through the API.

Why this happens

Both RealPage and Entrata run their own built-in resident payment platforms. Neither vendor publishes an API that lets outside systems write payment confirmations into their ledger — so this isn't something specific to Propexo, and it isn't something we can build around on our end.

What this means in practice

Any payment collected through a channel other than the vendor's own payment platform can't be reconciled back into RealPage or Entrata automatically. Instead:

  • Manual entry: The payment can be entered directly in the vendor's UI.

  • File-based workaround: Many customers send a payment file (e.g. CSV) to their property management company's back office for manual entry, since there's no API path available.

  • Vendor payment platforms: For RealPage, if a customer wants payments to post automatically, that would require using RealPage's own payment platform APIs directly, likely through a separate commercial arrangement with the vendor. Propexo has no visibility into or role in those arrangements, but we're happy to make introductions. Entrata does not offer this path - they do not support any arrangement for automatic payment posting from outside their own platform.
