Free PMS Feeds vs. Propexo Integrations
Last updated: July 9, 2026
Most property management systems (PMS) expose two very different ways of getting data out of the platform, and it's easy to confuse them:
Free ILS-style feeds – limited marketing data that anyone can consume.
Full integrations – the complete, authenticated APIs that Propexo builds against.
What are the free ILS feeds?
Nearly every major PMS publishes a free, publicly accessible feed originally designed to power Internet Listing Services (ILS) – the marketing sites that advertise available units. A few notes on these feeds:
They're free. There is typically no commercial agreement, partner approval, or per-customer credentialing required.
They're open to essentially anyone. These are typically push feeds configured per destination rather than open public endpoints. To receive one, you're generally added to the PMS's syndication directory (e.g., Yardi's ILS Feed Setup list or Entrata's ILS Portal), and the property manager enables your channel – usually a per-property checkbox in the PMS. Some destinations also run a short feed-testing process before going live. It's low-friction, but not zero-friction.
They're intentionally limited. The scope is marketing data: property and community details, floor plans, unit availability, advertised pricing, photos, virtual tours, fees, amenities, and similar listing content. Because the feeds were built for a narrow purpose, they generally do not include operational or resident-level data – no leases, ledgers, residents, payments, work orders, applications, or write capabilities of any kind.
What Propexo integrations are
Propexo integrations work differently. For each supported PMS, Propexo connects through one of two mechanisms:
A customer's approved integration partnership with the PMS vendor, giving Propexo sanctioned access to the vendor's full integration APIs
Read-access credentials to a specific customer environment, where the PMS supports that model.
Either way, the result is a much more complete dataset than any free feed offers. Depending on the PMS, this typically spans properties, units, residents, leases, ledgers and transactions, applications, work orders, and more – the operational data you actually need to build property management software, not just listing pages.
Not sure which one you need?
If listing data is all your use case requires, a free ILS feed may be enough on its own, since it requires no partnership or commercial agreement with the PMS – just per-property enablement from the property manager and, in some cases, a short feed-testing process.
If you want the ILS feed data delivered through Propexo, please reach out to support@propexo.com.And if you need operational data – residents, leases, ledgers, work orders, and beyond, those will be supproted by our existing integrations.
